The General Pediatrics Division at UT Southwestern Medical Center comprises a number of services and clinics that offer young patients the full spectrum of medical care.

• The Hospitalist Service, housed at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, cares for children referred by community physicians and for patients without primary care physicians. It is staffed by UT Southwestern’s general pediatricians, who direct each patient’s care and communicate with referring physicians after admission, at the time of discharge and any time there are significant changes during the hospitalization.
  
  
• The General Pediatric Outpatient Consultation and Diagnostic Service is available for referral of patients by primary care physicians and specialists. UT Southwestern pediatricians conduct comprehensive evaluations and diagnoses of patients. They also make recommendations for treatment and referrals back to primary care physicians.
  
  
• The First Care Clinic at Children’s Medical Center evaluates acute, nonemergency patients. UT Southwestern pediatric physicians supervise pediatric residents and support educational objectives through patient care, informal lectures and teaching conferences.
  
  
• The Adolescent Medicine Service seeks to improve adolescent health through health care delivery, education and research. The Adolescent/Young Adult (AYA) Clinic at Children’s Medical Center is staffed by UT Southwestern physicians who have special interest and training in the areas of adolescent and sports medicine. The clinic sees patients ages 11 to 21 and welcomes referrals from community physicians and health-care clinics.
  
  
• The Referral Care Center is a section of the Children’s Emergency Center that provides after-hours care to patients referred by their physicians for management of low- to moderate-acuity conditions. The center is staffed, in part, by UT Southwestern pediatric physicians. Patients who arrive at the center with high-acuity or complex conditions requiring specialty care, will be transferred to the main emergency center.
  
  
• The Crystal Charity Ball Continuity of Care Clinic, located at Children’s Medical Center, is where UT Southwestern’s pediatric residents receive training in primary ambulatory continuous care, providing comprehensive care to both well and chronically ill children. The clinic also is the center for many clinical research studies. This state-of-the-art clinic includes technologies that maximize the educational experience for residents and improve care for patients. These clinics also operate through the Parkland Health & Hospital System's Community Oriented Primary Care facilities at locations near UT Southwestern and Children's.
