- Many other types of arthritis and chronic joint pain.
In addition, UT Southwestern offers knee replacement therapy and other treatments for joint replacement patients.
At UT Southwestern, our therapists offer attentive and compassionate care at one of the nation’s pre-eminent heath-care facilities. We provide specialized care and treatments to address a patient’s specific condition, including comprehensive physical, occupational and recreational therapy programs.
Our arthritis specialists can help patients recover their mobility and attain high levels of function and independence. Patients who have been a part of our rehabilitation program have realized extraordinary results. Our goal is to provide the effective treatments and education they need for an improved quality of life and greater sense of well-being.
For patients who are candidates for a surgical procedure to treat arthritis, their UT Southwestern specialist will thoroughly discuss the most appropriate options available to treat their condition. In addition to a wide variety of procedures that have been proven effective in the treatment of arthritis, patients may be eligible for joint replacement surgery, including hip, knee or shoulder replacement. Following surgery, our specialists offer physical therapy for total knee replacements and other joint procedures.
Joint replacement surgery involves removing damaged bone and tissue and replacing the removed joint with ceramic, metal or plastic components. If medications and other therapies no longer provide sufficient relief and the patient experiences severe pain, joint replacement surgery may be a solution that will enable the patient to achieve greater flexibility and reduced pain.
At UT Southwestern, our physicians and rehabilitation staff will become active partners with patients in helping to control and cure their arthritis. Our dedication to providing expert and compassionate care will make an important difference in the treatment of arthritis and help patients achieve improved long-term health.
