Patients are generally referred to UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Bone Marrow Program by their primary care physician, but can refer themselves as well. Most patients are seen within a few days of referral. The evaluation includes a complete history and physical exam; review of previous records, scans and slides; and discussion of treatment options. The team physician discuss all cases at a regularly scheduled conference.
The Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematologic Malignancies Program performs autologous (using one’s own cells) and allogeneic (utilizing donor cells) bone-marrow transplants and all additional therapies that support these procedures. Through state-of-the-art facilities and highly experienced personnel, the UT Southwestern program has established an exceptional track record in carrying out these complicated procedures.
